Giuseppe Francesco Nallo

Giuseppe Francesco Nallo is a Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin, affiliated with the College of Electrical and Energy Engineering and Department of Energy (DENERG). He serves as Scientific Manager for commercial research projects with NewCleo S.r.l. focusing on DHR dip-coolers for molten lead reactors (LFR). As an Invited Member of the Collegio di Ingegneria Elettrica ed Energetica, he teaches Nuclear Fusion Reactor Engineering and Environmental Impact Assessment at the graduate level.

Research Focus: Nallo specializes in thermal-hydraulic modeling for liquid metal-cooled reactors and fission/fusion reactor safety analysis. His work includes developing simulation tools like TIFONE (inter-wrapper flow) and FRENETIC (multiphysics analysis), with applications to lead fast reactors and EU DEMO liquid metal divertors. Current projects address radiative load distribution, plasma impurity transport, and code benchmarking.

Publications & Collaborations: Recent articles (2021-2024) analyze liquid metal divertor designs for fusion reactors, neutronic-thermal coupling in fission reactors, and CFD validation for inter-wrapper flows. He collaborates on commercial research and supervises PhD students in the NEMO research group.

Teaching Contributions: Over 2019-2025, Nallo has served as course collaborator for Nuclear Fusion and Thermofluid Dynamics courses at both Master's and Bachelor's levels.
