Gius Di Donato

Dr. Gius Di Donato holds two doctorates in Roman Law (2017 from Italy, 2022 from England). He has served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Roman Law at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano and a Teaching Assistant there. Currently affiliated with the Business School at Edinburgh Napier University, he also holds roles as Honorary Fellow at Università degli Studi dell'Insubria since 2013 and 'Colaborador Honorario' at UNED (Madrid) since 2020. His research focuses on Roman legal systems, particularly military law at the empire’s frontiers, utilizing archaeological artifacts like the Vindolanda tablets. He completed a legal internship at Bergamo Court (2013–2015).

Research interests emphasize interdisciplinary approaches blending palaeography, archaeology, and philology. His 2021 article analyzes military legal practices via the Vindolanda tablets, illustrating legal frameworks in Roman frontier communities. Active in academic networks, he contributes to the Centre for Child & Family Law and Policy.
