Giulio D'Arrigo

Giulio D'Arrigo is a Researcher at the European University Institute (EUI) in the Department of Political and Social Sciences. He joined the institution as part of the 2024 cohort and is based in Florence, Italy.

Giulio's research focuses on European Union politics and governance. His primary areas of interest include European Union studies, European integration processes, EU governance mechanisms, public policy formulation within the EU context, and political institutions. He takes a particular interest in open institutionalism as a corrective to determinist accounts of policy legacies, examining how political institutions impact socioeconomic outcomes. His work also investigates policy responsiveness and policy feedback effects within the European context.

Giulio is currently working on his thesis titled "The European Commission in the EU economic governance: a case of political learning?" under the supervision of Anton Hemerijck. His research contributes to understanding the dynamics of political learning within EU institutions, particularly focusing on the role of the European Commission in economic governance.
