Giuliano Picchi

Giuliano Picchi is an Advisor to the Dean for Scientific Research on Art and Culture at MIT's School of Architecture and Planning, where he leads the MIT Culture Dynamics initiative. He is a Research Affiliate of the Art, Culture, and Technology (ACT) program and a visiting scholar at the MIT Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism (LCAU). He teaches graduate courses on creative entrepreneurship and serves as a Cultural Entrepreneur in Residence at MITdesignX. His research focuses on art markets, creative industries, and the intersection of urban cultural assets with behavioral and urban systems. He also founded UNITA and Scenography Today, NGOs supporting creative careers and scenic design.

His research spans art market dynamics, creative entrepreneurship, and the societal impact of arts beyond intrinsic value, integrating economics, urbanism, and public policy. He explores how creative practices drive behavioral change and urban resilience. Recent work includes contributions to the Venice Biennale Architettura 2025 Exhibition.
