Giulia Sinatti is an Assistant Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Social and Cultural Anthropology department in the Faculty of Social Sciences. She is also part of the Mobilities, Beliefs and Belonging (MOBB) research group. Her work bridges academic research with practice, focusing on transnational collaboration in healthcare, migration governance, and diaspora engagement. She has held positions across Europe, including at the LSE and Erasmus University, and previously worked in international development in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.
Research Interests:
- Healthcare professional cultures and co-creation in global health
- Biomedical HIV cure research and transnational collaboration
- Migration governance, diaspora policies, and return migration
- Ethnographic methodologies in healthcare and humanitarian settings

- Lead researcher in the SPIRAL project (HIV control in diverse populations)
- Principal Investigator for the Active8-Planet initiative (people-centred development)
- Contributor to the Life Long Learning Climate in Healthcare project
