- Mediterranean and Atlantic Studies

Professor Delogu's extensive publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on the intersection of economic, cultural, and political history in the Mediterranean region. Her recent work has particularly examined the development of free ports as sites of information exchange, the evolution of public health practices in early modern Venice and the Northern Adriatic, and the circulation of ideas across the Atlantic world. Her scholarship reveals how commercial practices, health policies, and political communication were deeply intertwined in shaping early modern societies. She has produced significant monographs including 'The Emporium of Words: Building Information in Modern Free Ports' (2024) and 'Mediterranean Reflections. Venice: Myth and Model between the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries' (2024).
As an academic supervisor, Professor Delogu maintains rigorous standards for thesis supervision, accepting a maximum of five master's theses and ten bachelor's theses per academic year. She emphasizes the importance of working with primary sources from the early modern period and requires students to attend historical research methodology seminars before beginning their thesis work. Her supervision focuses on historical analysis of cultural, economic, and political aspects in the Atlantic and Euro-Mediterranean area during the early modern age. Students must present their thesis topics during office hours after initial email contact, and must have already passed at least one of her courses.
Professor Delogu has also demonstrated significant editorial leadership, serving as editor for important collections such as 'Free Trade and Free Ports in the Mediterranean' (2025) and various thematic volumes on virtue, charity, and hope as historical concepts. Her work with the Ghislieri College, particularly through publications examining its history and regulations, reveals her interest in educational institutions as sites of knowledge production and political negotiation.
