Giulia D'Agostino

Giulia D'Agostino is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics (IALS) within the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society at USI University of Italian Switzerland. Since March 2024, she has held an Associate Membership with the Centre for Argument Technology (ARG-tech) at the University of Dundee, Scotland.

She earned her PhD from USI's Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society in July 2025 under Professor Andrea Rocci's supervision, completing doctoral research funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) on argument mining in financial communications.

Her research specializes in large-scale analysis of linguistic and argumentative strategies within financial dialogues, employing mixed qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Key focus areas include computational argument mining, financial discourse analysis, and cross-disciplinary applications bridging computational linguistics with argumentation theory in economic contexts.

Dr. D'Agostino's SNSF-funded doctoral project examined argumentative patterns in corporate earnings conference calls. She maintains active research collaborations between IALS and ARG-tech, advancing methodologies for automated argument detection in specialized financial discourse.
