Giselle Thompson, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on the intersection of critical studies in race, education, gender, diaspora, and international development, examining how colonialism, racial capitalism, and white supremacy impact Black education globally. She teaches courses such as EDPS 526 (Race, Racialization and Education) and EDPS 544 (Critical and Feminist Pedagogical Research). Her current work explores Black motherwork as a resistance strategy against systemic educational inequities.
