Giovanni Cespa is a Professor of Finance at Bayes Business School, City, University of London. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1999). His academic roles include Director of the PhD in Finance program (2016–2020) and Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) since 2013. He has held positions at institutions such as Queen Mary University of London, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and the University of Salerno.
His research focuses on liquidity and asset pricing, high-frequency trading, insider trading disclosure, and ETF market impacts. Key topics include market microstructure, corporate governance, and financial regulation. He has received the 2008 Finance and Sustainability European Research Award for his work on CSR and managerial entrenchment.
