معرفی
Giovanni Andrea Prodi is a Full Professor at the Department of Physics of the University of Trento. He has been involved in experimental gravitation research since 1986, becoming a researcher in 1990 and an associate professor in 2002. He led the INFN-associated group at Trento’s Physics Department from 1999 to 2005 and managed the local AURIGA gravitational wave detector project until 2007, later overseeing Trento’s role in the Virgo collaboration. His work includes pioneering contributions to gravitational wave detection, quantum noise reduction, and data analysis in international networks of detectors.
Research interests focus on gravitational waves, quantum fluctuations, quantum gravity, and dark matter. He developed SQUID-based amplification systems for AURIGA, achieving record sensitivity and noise performance. He also conceptualized the DUAL broadband acoustic detectors to complement interferometric systems in future gravitational wave searches.
Prodi coordinated multinational data analysis efforts for the IGEC collaboration and contributed to the ILIAS-GWA European program, advancing multi-detector network analyses. His technical innovations include mechanical impedance matching and thermal noise reduction in detector components, validated through experimental campaigns.
