Giorgos Adamidis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Plant Biology, University of Patras, Greece. He holds a PhD in Environmental and Ecological Engineering from the University of the Aegean (2013) and has undertaken postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Calgary (2017), Temple University (2018), and University of Bern (2019). His academic career spans teaching and research in plant ecology, focusing on functional traits, biotic interactions, and global change impacts.
- PhD, Environmental and Ecological Engineering (2013), University of the Aegean
- MSc, Environmental and Ecological Engineering (2007), University of the Aegean
- BSc, Forestry (2006), Democritus University of Thrace
His research explores plant adaptation to extreme environments, particularly serpentine soils, investigating metal hyperaccumulation, phytosanitation technologies, and ecosystem functioning through morphological and physiological trait linkages. His recent publications highlight interspecific trait variation, climate change responses, and phytoextraction efficiency. Adamidis contributes to Mediterranean biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management strategies.
Scientific awards include prestigious postdoctoral fellowships at three universities. His collaborative work is featured in high-impact journals such as Journal of Ecology, Science of the Total Environment, and Scientific Reports. Adamidis remains actively engaged with the European Liquid Biopsy Society Research Hub and other networks.
