Giordano Tierra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of North Texas. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Seville (2012) and has held research positions at Charles University in Prague and the University of Notre Dame before joining Temple University as Research Assistant Professor and subsequently UNT.
His research develops computational methods for multiphysics problems involving complex fluid systems. Core applications include biofilm dynamics, tumor growth modeling, liquid crystal behavior, and non-Newtonian fluid flows. His work emphasizes energy-stable numerical schemes and finite element methods for systems of coupled PDEs.
Dr. Tierra maintains active participation in professional societies including SIAM, AWM, and SEMA, and regularly presents at major computational mathematics conferences worldwide.
