Gino Sorbello is an Associate Professor of Electromagnetic Fields at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering (DIEEI) at the University of Catania since 2014. He previously served as a Researcher in Electromagnetics at the same institution from 2002 to 2014.
- Education: M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering (1996, University of Catania), Ph.D. in Electronic and Communication Engineering (2000, Polytechnic University of Milan)
- Office: Building 13 (DIEEI), Viale Andrea Doria 6, Catania
- Office Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 to 11:00
Research Interests:
- Optical amplifiers and single-mode solid-state lasers
- Integrated optics
- Development of compact planar antennas and ultra-wideband antennas
- Microwave components
- Computational electromagnetics, particularly propagation in magnetized plasmas
- Ion sources and linear particle accelerators
Collaborative Projects:
- INFN DEMETRA project (innovative accelerating structures)
- National Laboratories of the South (LNS-INFN) collaboration (microwave polarimetry for ion sources)
- ST Microelectronics Catania partnership (high-frequency antenna arrays for IoT/localization)
