Dr. Ginny Mounce is a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead for the Professional Doctorate in Midwifery at Oxford Brookes University, within the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is a registered midwife with a PhD and MSc, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her teaching includes research methods, philosophy of midwifery, and supervision of doctoral students in nursing and midwifery.
Her research focuses on infertility, assisted reproduction (especially IVF), and the psychosocial aspects of transitioning to parenthood. She employs qualitative methodologies to explore patient experiences, with an emphasis on early pregnancy, fertility treatments, and maternity care. Her work has led to significant publications and a co-authored book on IVF and parenthood.
Recent publications highlight her focus on fertility decision-making, postnatal care, and the impact of infertility on family dynamics. Her research spans disciplines including midwifery, sociology of health, reproductive biology, and clinical nursing.

Dr. Mounce supervises multiple doctoral students and collaborates with researchers across institutions. She has been involved in projects related to fertility, assisted reproduction, and maternity care, and previously served as Clinical Research Manager at the University of Oxford. She maintains professional links with the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health, including as an internal examiner for the MSc Clinical Embryology course. She is affiliated with the Oxford Institute of Applied Health Research and the Maternity and Childbirth (OxMater) research group.
