Gina Polychronopoulos

Gina Polychronopoulos is the Department Chair of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School in Washington, D.C. With a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Old Dominion University and an M.S.Ed in Counseling and M.S. in Psychology, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. Her career spans over 15 years in applied research, clinical practice, and academic leadership.

Her research focuses on evidence-based practice, diagnosis and assessment, and counselor education, with recent interdisciplinary work in higher education assessment. She developed the RARE Model, which emphasizes relational strategies and collaborative practices in assessment. This framework has been disseminated through 11 presentations and three peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Polychronopoulos has authored 17 peer-reviewed publications, two book chapters, and delivered over 30 presentations. Her clinical experience includes acute inpatient, residential, community-based, and outpatient settings. She advocates for a person-centered, strengths-based approach to foster inclusive cultures of inquiry in academic and clinical environments.
