معرفی
Dr. Gina M. Chiarella is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Prairie View A&M University (since 2018), having previously served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the same institution (2012–2018). She holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic-Bioinorganic Chemistry from SUNY Stony Brook and has held academic positions globally, including at universities in Peru, Blinn College, and Texas A&M University as a postdoctoral researcher.
Her research explores:
- Metal complex synthesis for enzyme mimicry and environmental remediation (e.g., arsenic capture using iron complexes)
- Schiff base and guanidinate ligands for catalytic and materials applications
- Luminescent and redox-active compounds
Dr. Chiarella’s publications focus on inorganic chemistry, with recent work in crystallography (2024) and nickel complex luminescence (2023). Her articles frequently address metal-metal bonds, paddlewheel structures, and environmental applications.
Awards:
- Chemistry Award for Excellence in Doctoral Research (SUNY Stony Brook, 2005–2006)
- Outstanding Advanced Teaching Assistant Award (SUNY Stony Brook, 2004–2005)
- Chemistry Award for Outstanding Service (SUNY Stony Brook, 2006)
She actively advises 7 students and emphasizes hands-on research in projects like arsenic remediation and microwave synthesis. Her teaching philosophy prioritizes student development and accessibility in science education.
