Gina Burney serves as a Lecturer in Illustration & Graphic Design for the Integrated Foundation Year (IFY) program at Falmouth University, a position she assumed in June 2022 after relocating to Cornwall from Manchester where she accumulated 16 years of experience teaching Graphic Communication, Contextual Studies, and Art Foundation courses.
Her academic credentials include:
- MA 'Maker Teacher' from Manchester Metropolitan University (2011)
- Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Art & Design from Manchester Metropolitan University (2005)
- BA (Hons) Graphic Arts from Liverpool John Moores University (2002)
- Diploma Foundation Studies in Art & Design from Manchester Metropolitan University (1999)
Burney's artistic practice explores the intersection of ephemeral graphic artifacts and enduring visual language, particularly examining how graphic iconography shapes social and political discourse. Her recent Cornish-based work manifests in surrealist collaged 'dreamscapes' that investigate subconscious mark-making, layered abstraction, memory formation, perceptual frameworks, and collective human existence within distinctive landscapes.
She maintains professional affiliations with the Institute for Learning, General Teaching Council, and Sixth Form Colleges Association, reflecting her commitment to art education pedagogy.
