Gillian Saunders is a Sessional Instructor in the Academic and Technical Writing Program at the University of Victoria. She holds a BA from UVic, an MA from Queen’s University, and is a PhD Candidate in Curriculum and Instruction at UVic. Her research focuses on undergraduate students' experiences with academic writing support, with particular emphasis on internationalization, English language learning, decolonization of writing instruction, and grammar pedagogy. She has worked at UVic since 2014 as an English as an Additional Language Specialist in the Centre for Academic Communication, supporting students in academic writing and literature courses.
- Teaching Experience: Over a decade of instruction in academic writing, TESOL, business English, and English literature in Canada and internationally.
- Research Interests: Dissertation genres in education faculties, critical approaches to writing center practices, and inclusive writing pedagogy.
As an instructor, her goal is to empower students from diverse backgrounds through demystifying the writing process and fostering critical thinking skills. Her work emphasizes accessibility and inclusivity in academic writing education.
