Gillian Bishop is a Senior Lecturer in Management and Deputy Associate Dean (Scholarship and Teaching Innovation) at the University of York's School for Business and Society. Her roles include developing inclusive teaching strategies, supporting academic staff in scholarship, and leading initiatives like the SBS 'No Gaps' pilot to reduce awarding gaps for diverse students. She previously served as PGT Director and Head of Postgraduate Programmes at York St John University, and managed MBA programs at Huddersfield University.
Her research focuses on reflective practice in management education, using storytelling and action learning to foster critical reflexivity. Gill holds a PhD from the University of Huddersfield (2017), exploring how international MBA students develop reflective skills through dialogical conversations. She is a Chartered Manager (CMI), Senior Fellow of Advance HE, and member of the British Academy of Management.
Key research areas include critical pedagogy, international student development, and qualitative methods like auto-ethnography. Gill has co-authored textbooks such as *Management: Self, People and the Organisation* (2017) and contributed to journals like *Action Learning: Research and Practice*.
