Gilles Reinhardt is an Associate Professor and Section Coordinator for the BAIS Section at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. He holds a B.Com (Honours) and M.Sc. from the University of Ottawa, and a Ph.D. in Operations Management from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a survey methodologist at Statistics Canada. He taught Operations, Supply Chain Management, and Sport Operations at DePaul University from 2000 to 2015, and delivered courses internationally in Finland, Thailand, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Bahrain.
His research focuses on congestion management models applied across transportation, energy, healthcare, and medical care delivery. Key areas include drug formulary optimization, emergency department patient flow simulations, and supply chain risk analysis. Recent work emphasizes the optimal composition of prescription drug formularies using multiple-criteria decision analysis.
Dr. Reinhardt has secured research grants including a 2019-2020 pedagogical grant for hybrid course design (ADM 3301/3701) and a 2017 project on two-phased drug formulary design. His funded research explores operational efficiency in healthcare systems and educational methodologies. He has published widely in journals like Journal of the Operational Research Society and Annals of Emergency Medicine, with a focus on bridging theoretical operations management with practical healthcare and sport management challenges.
