Gilles Ferrand is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manitoba, affiliated with the Faculty of Science. He is part of the eXtreme Astrophysics group and contributes to the SNR (Supernova Remnant) group. His career spans multiple institutions, including RIKEN (Japan) and CEA (France).

In scientific visualization, he explores immersive VR techniques for 3D astronomical data.
He has held research positions at RIKEN, University of Manitoba, and CEA, and teaching roles at University of Manitoba and Université Toulouse III.
