Dr. Gil Hizi is a Lecturer at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Cologne. His work focuses on Globalization, Mobilities and Cities, and Socialities, Value(s), and Religion, with regional expertise in Asia and East Asia. He provides subject-specific student advisory services and teaches courses aligned with the department’s thematic priorities.

Research Interests: Dr. Hizi’s research explores the comparative analysis of values (economic, ethical, religious) and their role in shaping social worlds, ritual practices, and the sacred. His work intersects with themes of globalization, translocal mobility, and cultural relativism, emphasizing ethnographic fieldwork and participant observation in contemporary societies.
