Gift Mwonzora

Dr. Gift Mwonzora is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Associate at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt, Germany. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Rhodes University (South Africa), an MA in Development Studies from Erasmus University Rotterdam, and a B.A. Honours in History and Development Studies from Midlands State University (Zimbabwe). His research focuses on development policy, governance, political economy, peace and conflict studies, environmental sustainability, urban safety, and digitalization in Africa. He previously held academic positions at South African universities, including roles at Rhodes University, Northwest University, and the University of Free State. His work also includes experiences as a rapporteur in Zimbabwe’s constitution-making process and trade union activism with the General Agriculture and Plantation Workers Union of Zimbabwe (GAPWUZ).
