معرفی
Professor Gideon Davies is a Royal Society Ken Murray Research Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York. His research focuses on structural enzymology and chemical biology, particularly in glycoscience, exploring the roles of glycans in health and disease. He holds degrees from the University of Bristol and has held postdoctoral positions at EMBL Hamburg and CNRS Grenoble.
- PhD: University of Bristol (1990)
- Royal Society University Research Fellowship (1996)
- Fellowships: Royal Society (2010), Academy of Medical Sciences (2014)
Research interests include enzyme mechanisms of carbohydrate-active proteins, development of activity-based probes, and applications in cancer biology, neurodegeneration, and microbiota studies. His work has led to advancements in understanding glycan biosynthesis and degradation pathways.
Key awards include the 2024 Centenary Award (Biochemical Society), 2020 Rita and Cornforth Award (Royal Society of Chemistry), and the 2015 Davy Medal (Royal Society). He currently serves on the Royal Society Council.
