Gianluca Amprimo is a Research Fellow at the Department of Control and Computer Science (DAUIN) at Politecnico di Torino, with secondary affiliation as Research Fellow at CNR-IEIIT (National Research Council - Institute of Electronics, Information and Telecommunications Engineering). He serves as external lecturer and teaching assistant for Object-Oriented Programming in the Computer Engineering program for multiple academic years (2022/23-2025/26).
Research Focus: Biomedical engineering applications in neurological rehabilitation, with specific emphasis on
- Movement disorder assessment (Parkinson's Disease, ALS, post-stroke recovery)
- AI-powered computer vision systems for motor function analysis
- Wearable sensor integration (EEG, EMG, RGB-D sensors)
- Exergame development for rehabilitation
Publication Trends: Recent works demonstrate expertise at the intersection of artificial intelligence and clinical neurosciences, including deep learning applications for gait analysis, stress assessment through electrodermal activity, and survival analysis models for neurodegenerative disease progression. His technical focus spans computer vision (particularly Azure Kinect validation), biomedical signal processing, and sensor fusion techniques.
Collaborative Network: Active researcher in the SMILIES group (reSilient computer architectures and LIfE Sciences) with frequent collaborations including
- Claudia Ferraris (co-author on 5+ publications)
- Gabriella Olmo (PhD advisor relationship indicated)
- Giulia Masi (co-author on multiple studies)
- Deepak Ravi (co-author on clinical AI systems)
