Gian Paolo Rossi

Gian Paolo Rossi is a Full Professor of Medicine at the Department of Medicine (DIMED), University of Padua, Italy, where he serves as Director of the High Blood Pressure Unit and Center for Excellence in Hypertension, Head of the Complex Unit of Emergency and Urgency at St. Antony Hospital, and Director of the Postgraduate Program in Emergency and Urgency Medicine. He also coordinates the International PhD Program in Arterial Hypertension and Vascular Biology.

Dr. Rossi received his MD degree Magna cum laude from the University of Padua and is Board Certified in both Cardiology and Endocrinology. His training includes research at the Department of Heart & Hypertension Research at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and visiting positions at the German Institute for High Blood Pressure Research (University of Heidelberg), Medical Academy of Gdansk, and Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology in Berlin.

His research focuses on arterial hypertension, particularly hyperaldosteronism, endocrine hypertension, and vascular remodeling. Dr. Rossi has published over 500 peer-reviewed papers with an h-index of 73 and authored 31 book chapters, including the Primary Aldosteronism chapter in the ESH 2019 Manual of Hypertension. His recent publications demonstrate consistent contributions across hypertension research, with emphasis on molecular mechanisms, diagnostic approaches, and clinical management strategies spanning cardiovascular physiology, endocrinology, and vascular biology.

His scientific achievements have been recognized with numerous awards including the Talal Zein Award of the European Society of Hypertension, International Award for Publication Excellence from The Endocrine Society, and recognition as the top global expert on hyperaldosteronism by Expertscape. In 2023, he was invited to deliver the Richard Underwood Memorial Lecture at Harvard University.

Dr. Rossi has held significant leadership roles including President of the European Council for Cardiovascular Research (2016-2017), Chair of the International Aldosterone Conference (2016-2017), and service on editorial boards of major journals including Hypertension (AHA journal) and Journal of Hypertension. He has served as Principal Investigator for multiple international studies including GENICA, PAPY, PAPPHY, and EMIRA, and as an international evaluator for French INSERM.
