Giacomo Rizzolatti is a distinguished Professor of Human Physiology at the University of Parma, Italy, where he has maintained his academic position since 1969. He served as Associate Professor (1969-1975), Professor (1975-1980), and has been Professor of Human Physiology continuously since 1981. He also held a Visiting Professor position at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Anatomy (1980-1981).
Rizzolatti is internationally renowned as one of the leading figures in neuroscience, most famous for his discovery of mirror neurons. His research has profoundly impacted our understanding of brain-mind relations and the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying actions, intentions, and emotions of others. His work has been instrumental in 'naturalizing' cognitive functions through empirical neuroscience research.
