Giacomo Margagliotti is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Trieste. He is a member of the Department's Board and actively participates in the Boards of Studies for Physics (SM20 and SM23).
His research focuses on experimental physics, particularly the development and application of silicon detectors for particle tracking and energy loss measurements. He contributes to projects involving Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) and their use in high-energy physics experiments like ALICE at CERN and ePIC at BNL, as well as in medical and space physics.
He is involved in the INFN-funded project 'Energy Loss measurements with Monolithic Active pixel sensors' (ELMA, 2023–2026) and collaborates on technological advancements for particle detection under extreme conditions, including future experiments like ALICE 3 (2035).
