Ghosh Abhik

Abhik Ghosh is a Full Professor of Chemistry at UiT - The Arctic University of Norway since 2000, following roles as Associate Professor (1996–2000) and postdoctoral researcher at institutions like the University of Minnesota and University of California, Riverside. His research focuses on metallocorroles, theoretical inorganic chemistry, and bioinorganic systems, with notable contributions to ligand noninnocence, photodynamic therapy applications, and 5d-element chemistry. He leads the Soft Matter Chemistry research group and directs UiT’s Center for Sustainable STEM Education.

Awarded over 20 international honors including the Hans Fischer Career Award (2022), Academia Europaea Membership (2023), and a PROSE Award for textbook excellence, Ghosh has published >275 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 64) and mentored 16 PhD students, 16 postdocs, and >50 undergraduate researchers. His work bridges computational/theoretical studies with experimental applications in energy and biomedical fields.

He holds visiting professorships at University of Auckland (2006–2014) and Portland State University (2013–2018), and collaborates globally via synchrotron facilities like SSRL and LBNL. Active in science education, he co-leads DEI initiatives and public outreach through SusSTEMed and SciComm platforms.
