German Ellsworth serves as Assistant Professor in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Utah School of Medicine and is a board-certified occupational medicine physician affiliated with the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH). He holds dual degrees including MD, MPH, and MOH credentials.
His clinical practice specializes in work-related injury management, return-to-work protocols, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and occupational medical surveillance. As associate medical director of the University of Utah Occupational Medicine Clinics, he supervises occupational medicine residents and medical students while teaching in the Master of Occupational Medicine program. He also serves on the School of Medicine's Curriculum Committee Phase 3 Subcommittee.
Research interests center on occupational injury prevention, vaccine efficacy in workplace settings (notably as co-investigator for the BEEHIVE vaccine study), and Total Worker Health initiatives through NORA Symposium participation. His work bridges clinical practice, medical education, and environmental health research at RMCOEH.
Professional activities include Clean Air Schools program contributions, workplace safety resource development, and HAZWOPER training oversight. Current projects focus on vaccine studies and occupational health interventions within the Mountain West region.
