Gerhard Fuchs

Dr. Gerhard Fuchs is a Clinical Professor of Urology and Executive Director of the USC Institute of Urology (Beverly Hills), holding roles as Vice Chair of Education and Director of Quality Assurance/Improvement. He also directs the Men's Health Center. With nearly 30 years of experience, he specializes in minimally invasive urological surgery, including kidney stone management and advanced endoscopic/laparoscopic techniques.

Education: Dr. Fuchs earned his medical degree from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, completed residencies in General Surgery and Urology at Tubingen University Medical School, and holds a doctoral degree from the University of Freiburg Medical School. He is board-certified in Urology by both the American and German Boards.

Research Interests: His work focuses on kidney stone treatment innovations, minimally invasive surgical techniques, telemedicine applications in urology, kidney-sparing cancer management, and surgical education. He has contributed to advancements in laser technologies, endoscopic instrument durability, and postoperative outcome analyses.

Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles highlight his contributions to urological surgery, including kidney preservation strategies, telemedicine sustainability impacts, and surgical device optimization. Recent work addresses diagnostic accuracy in urothelial carcinoma and pandemic response strategies in urology.

Leadership: His administrative roles emphasize quality assurance, educational program development (residencies/fellowships), and clinical innovation. He previously led the Cedars-Sinai Minimally Invasive Urology Program and held leadership positions at UCLA.
