Gergely Hartmann is an external lecturer at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), affiliated with both the Institute for Theoretical Studies and the Institute of Architecture. He teaches courses in architectural history, writing, and 20th-21st century architectural topics. Since 2018, he has been a doctoral candidate at the MOME Doctoral School, where he obtained his pre-degree certificate in 2022. His academic background includes a 2012 architecture degree from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).
Hartmann's research focuses on 20th-century Hungarian and international architecture (1945-1990), church architecture, and architectural theory. His work bridges academic scholarship with public engagement through digital projects like Modern Győr (a thematic website) and Budapest Legend (a map database). He actively publishes critiques, translations, and organizes exhibitions.
His recent publications center on Hungarian modernist architecture, particularly post-war urban development and preservation challenges. Articles demonstrate consistent themes of architectural heritage documentation, monument protection debates, and regional modernism analysis.
