Prof. Gerasimos Konstantatos leads the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials Group at ICFO, focusing on solution-processed nanomaterials for optoelectronics, imaging, sensing, and renewable energy. His work bridges nanoscience and nanotechnology to address real-world challenges, leveraging interdisciplinary collaboration among physicists, chemists, and engineers.
- Research Interests: Light emission, photodetection, renewable energies, and colloidal quantum dots for low-cost optoelectronics.
- Funding: ERC Consolidator Grant (HEINSOL), Graphene Flagship (Optoelectronics WP), and Plan Nacional – Mineco.
- Labs: Advanced facilities for material synthesis, device fabrication, and optoelectronic characterization, including quantum cascade lasers, spectrometers, and thermal annealing systems.
Recent advancements include non-toxic quantum dots for CMOS-compatible infrared sensors and leadership in the EU’s 2DNEURALVISION project.
