Gerard McGranaghan

Dr. Gerard McGranaghan is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at Atlantic Technological University (ATU). He serves as a Principal Investigator in three research groups: the PEM Research Centre (Precision Engineering Materials and Manufacturing), the Nanotechnology & Bioengineering Research Group (NBR), and the Mathematical Modelling and Intelligent Systems for Health and Environment (MISHE). His research focuses on thermal engineering, additive manufacturing, and surface engineering, with applications in sustainable manufacturing and energy efficiency.

Dr. McGranaghan’s work addresses challenges in heat transfer enhancement, fouling mitigation in heat exchangers, and computational modeling of fluid dynamics. His recent studies include additive manufacturing of lattice structures for tooling optimization and CFD analysis of roughness effects in minichannels. He collaborates internationally on topics such as turbulent flow behavior over rough surfaces and the role of nanotechnology in thermal systems.
