معرفی
Gerald S. Buller is a Professor at Heriot-Watt University's School of Engineering & Physical Sciences and Institute of Photonics and Quantum Sciences. He leads research on quantum technologies including single-photon detection, quantum imaging, and LiDAR systems.
Education includes a BSc in Natural Philosophy from the University of Glasgow (1986) and a PhD in Physics from Heriot-Watt University (1989).
Research focuses on single-photon detectors, quantum key distribution, time-of-flight ranging, depth imaging, and semiconductor optoelectronic devices. Applications span quantum communication, security, and advanced imaging systems.
Honors:
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (2010)
- Fellow of the Institute of Physics (2002)
- Fellow of the Optical Society of America (2017)
Leads a research group of approximately eight members and serves as Principal Investigator for projects funded by EPSRC, EU, and industry partners.
