Gerald Horne holds the Moores Professorship of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston. He earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University, J.D. from UC Berkeley, and B.A. from Princeton University. His research addresses racism across labor, politics, civil rights, international relations, war, and film industry contexts.
Dr. Horne has authored over thirty books including The Apocalypse of Settler Colonialism (2018), Facing the Rising Sun (2018), and The Counter-Revolution of 1776 (2014). Current research includes forthcoming works on Texas slavery and Jim Crow, and radicalism in Washington, D.C. He teaches undergraduate courses on the Civil Rights Movement and U.S. History through Film, and graduate courses in Diplomatic History, Labor History and African American History.
