Gerald E. Daniels Jr. is an Associate Professor of Economics and Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies at Howard University's College of Arts & Sciences. His research examines household finance, economic inequality, and the socioeconomic impacts of student loan debt.
He holds a PhD in Economics from University of California, Riverside (2013), an MS in Economics (2010), and a BS in Business Economics (2008) from the same institution. Daniels serves on the Executive Board of the National Economic Association and the Racial Equity Advisory Committee at J-PAL.
His research investigates racial wealth gaps, lifetime earnings disparities, and labor market outcomes related to educational debt. Current projects analyze how student debt relief policies affect wealth inequality across demographic groups.
Daniels has secured major grants including NSF funding ($2.75M) and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation support ($250K) for work on economic disparities. He teaches Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory and Macroeconomic Theory at graduate level.
