Gerald Brown is a Part-time Senior Lecturer at the Gordon Institute within Tufts University's School of Engineering and concurrently serves as a Lecturer at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He leads the Institute for Economic Stability (IES), a nonprofit applying supply chain processes to stabilize economies in conflict-affected nations. Previously, he held roles in the U.S. Department of Defense supply chain division and private sector organizations like IBM-France and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Education includes a B.A. from Amherst College, an M.B.A. from Yale University’s School of Organization and Management, and an executive diploma in economics from Fundação Getulio Vargas (Brazil). He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and French.
His research focuses on supply chain management and process improvement, with emphasis on applying these disciplines to post-conflict economic development. Teaching specialties include supply chain management, operations, and project management, with courses such as Supply Chain & Operations Mgmt and Intl Supply Chains.
Brown’s professional experience spans over three decades across Fortune 500 companies and government roles, complemented by academic appointments since 2008 at Tufts. His work bridges academia, industry, and humanitarian efforts through IES initiatives.
