Georgios Stamatakos is a Research Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), affiliated with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS). He specializes in in silico medicine, pioneering the field since 2002. His work focuses on multiscale cancer modeling, digital twins, and clinical applications of AI in oncology. He led the CHIC project, a €10.58M EU-US initiative, and developed the Oncosimulator, a world-first tool for personalized cancer treatment prediction.
Educational Background: MSc in Electrical Engineering (NTUA), MSc in Bioengineering (University of Strathclyde), PhD in Physics (Biophysics, NTUA). Postdoctoral fellow at ICCS-NTUA under an IKY grant.
Research Interests: In silico oncology, computational oncology, precision medicine, systems biology, biomedical engineering, and AI-driven healthcare. He teaches courses like Multiscale Cancer Modelling and In Silico Medicine, the first global postgraduate course in this domain.
Grants & Leadership: Coordinated the CHIC project (€10.58M), led EU-funded BOUNCE (H2020), and contributed to ACGT, ContraCancrum, and VPH initiatives. Serves as Board Member of the Virtual Physiological Human Institute and Co-Chair of the Avicenna Alliance’s Cancer Task Force.
Labs & Teams: Director of the In Silico Oncology and Medicine Group at ICCS-NTUA, collaborating with Prof. Norbert Graf (University of Saarland) on clinical validations. Active in organizing international workshops like IARWISOCI and VPH conferences.
