Georgios Papaioannou is a Research Fellow at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, affiliated with the ECO2 Vehicle Design Center and KTH Vehicle Dynamics Group. He holds a PhD from the School of Mechanical Engineering at National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece (2019), where his thesis on vehicle and seat suspension system optimization earned the prestigious Gkiourounlian Scholarship's second award for its industrial impact. Previously, he worked as a Research Fellow at Cranfield University, UK, focusing on automated vehicles.
His research interests span automated and human-driven vehicles, vehicle dynamics, human factors, motion comfort, suspension design, tyre modeling, wear reduction, optimization techniques, control systems, and motion planning. He currently teaches the Vehicle Engineering course (SD1002) at KTH.
Key achievements include contributions to novel suspension systems and optimization methods, recognized by NTUA's scholarship. His work bridges academia and industry, emphasizing practical applications in vehicle technology.
Georgios is actively involved in interdisciplinary collaborations through ECO2 and the Vehicle Dynamics Group, driving innovation in sustainable and advanced vehicle systems.
