Georgios Evangelidis

Georgios Evangelidis is a Professor in the Department of Applied Informatics at the School of Information Sciences, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. He serves as Director of the Software and Data Engineering Lab and previously held administrative roles including Dean of the School of Science and Technology at the International Hellenic University.

His educational background includes:

• B.Sc. in Mathematics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1987)
• M.Sc. in Computer Science, Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA (1990)
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA (1994)

Specializing in Database Technology, Knowledge Discovery, Data Mining, and Citation Analysis, his research develops advanced database systems for efficient data management and knowledge extraction. With 38 journal articles, 104 conference papers, and 14 books, his work spans database systems and analytics, with recent focus on cloud-based data management and exploratory visualization techniques.

He directs the Software and Data Engineering Lab at the University of Macedonia, driving research in cutting-edge data engineering solutions.
