Georgie Brinkman serves as Coordinator of the Master Artistic Research (MAR) program at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), while actively contributing to the Lectorate Design's Deep Futures Research Group (2023-2024) and serving on PARC's (Platform for Artistic Research through Collaboration) Sounding Board alongside Leiden University.
Her academic background includes:
- BA Fine Art from Kingston University (2014)
- MA Artistic Research from KABK (2019), funded by a Leverhulme Trust scholarship
Brinkman's research interrogates non-human agency within ecological collapse, deliberately blurring science-fiction and science-fact through moving image installations, audio works, and performance. Her practice centers animals, plants, and minerals as protagonists—exemplified by works featuring "a melancholic seagull, a leech who is a poet, or an ocean with a broken heart"—to challenge anthropocentric narratives amid mass extinction. This positions her within ecological futures discourse and speculative artistic methodologies.
Current research collaborations focus on long-term planetary transformation through the Deep Futures Research Group, while her 'Artist as Teacher' course qualification underscores commitment to pedagogical innovation in artistic research education.
