Georgia McCorkill

Georgia McCorkill is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT University. She specializes in sustainable design strategies, focusing on upcycling, repair, and co-design for bespoke and micropreneur contexts. Her current project Fashion Fix investigates garment repair through industry, community, and activist lenses. She teaches design studios in the Bachelor of Fashion (Design) program, integrating ethical practices and textile waste innovation. Supervision is open for Masters and PhD students.

Research interests include Design Practice Research, Co-design, Sustainable Fashion, and Product Service Systems. Notable projects explore urban textile flows, historical fashion revival, and sensory embroidery practices. She has exhibited work in Australia and published on topics like material repurposing and community-enabled fashion systems.

Teaching emphasizes ethical and sustainable design through practical making. Supervision projects include Textile and Apparel Transformation in Vietnam and RE-kin-DLE, focusing on scalable reuse methods. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 12 (Responsible Consumption), 13 (Climate Action), and 11 (Sustainable Cities).
