Georgi Gochev is an assistant professor of classical philology and ancient literature at New Bulgarian University, specializing in ancient Greek language, literature, and philosophy. He holds a PhD and has been affiliated with NBU since 2009, contributing to both teaching and research. His work focuses on translating and interpreting classical texts, particularly those of Plato, Aristotle, and Euripides. He has also edited and authored numerous academic and literary works, including books on classical studies and existential literary theory. His research explores themes such as ancient concepts of happiness, political philosophy, and mythological symbolism.
Gochev earned his Bachelor's in Classical Philology from Sofia University (2004) and specialized at the Fondation für Klassische Studien in Geneva (2007–2008). He has taught courses on antique literature, theater, and politics, and served as editor for literary journals like Текстил and columnist for Дневник. His awards include the prestigious national Христо Г. Данов Prize (2016) and the Богдан Богданов Prize for humanities (2019).
His publications span translations of key philosophical texts (e.g., Plato's Republic and Aristotle's Poetics), academic monographs on classical themes, and creative works like novels and essays. His scholarly contributions emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to ancient texts, blending philology with modern critical theory.
