Georgette Nummelin is a part-time PhD researcher at the School of Arts, SOAS University of London, focusing on the revitalization of Ainu culture through music and language. She is also an experienced music and special educational needs (SEN) teacher, specializing in classical singing, violin, and shamisen performance within Japanese traditional music.

Her research integrates ethnomusicology, anthropology, and minority language preservation, with a unique emphasis on rock/metal music and inclusivity in music education.
