George Yiapanas is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Nicosia's Department of Management and a Research Fellow at GNOSIS Mediterranean Institute for Management Science. He holds a PhD in Sports Management and multiple certifications in areas like security management and football governance. His career spans over two decades in sports finance, strategic management, and governance, with roles including Finance Manager at GSP Stadium and Board positions in organizations such as the Cyprus Squash Association and the Parallel Parliament of Cyprus.
Education includes a PhD in Sports Management (2022), an MA in Management with distinction (2016), and specialized certifications from institutions including FIFA and SIGA. He contributes to research on sports sustainability, governance, and digital marketing in sports and esports.
Research focuses on strategic management in football ecosystems, gender equality in sports, and application of big data for fan engagement. He leads EU-funded projects like CL4BIO and TEAM, addressing bio-economy education and mental health in youth football. His work aligns with UN SDGs on Education and Sustainable Development.
