George Lister

George Lister is the Jean McLean Wallace Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale School of Medicine. He previously served as Chair of Pediatrics at Yale and at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and as Associate Dean for Education at UT Southwestern. His expertise spans Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Lister’s research focuses on factors affecting risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), neonatal physiology, hypoxia, critical care, and medical education. His work bridges clinical pediatrics and cellular physiology, with emphasis on cardiorespiratory events, oxygen saturation in infants, and the use of heliox in acute asthma. He has contributed significantly to understanding peripheral circulation in critical illness and cardiovascular development in neonates.

His recent publications reflect a focus on pediatric respiratory disorders, neonatal monitoring technologies, and mentorship in academic medicine. Key themes include SIDS risk assessment, apnea detection methods, and innovations in fellowship training and education.
