George Issa

Dr. George Issa is a Lecturer (Education-Focused) in the Discipline of Finance at the University of Sydney. He holds a BCom (Hons) from the University of Sydney (2012) and a PhD (2018) from the same institution. His research focuses on banking sector analysis, market microstructure in OTC markets, repo markets, and derivatives. Current studies include international transmission of funding shocks via bond holdings and rehypothecated collateral use in repo markets.

Teaching includes FINC6001 Intermediate Corporate Finance and FINC6013 International Business Finance. He received the 2024 University of Sydney Strategic Education Grant. His publications span peer-reviewed journals like the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, examining topics such as execution costs in low-information-asymmetry markets and trader roles in options markets.
