George Fair

Dr. George Fair is a Professor and Dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas. He holds a Ph.D. in Special Education & Educational Research (University of Pittsburgh, 1974), an M.Ed. in Special Education (University of Pittsburgh, 1970), and an A.B. in Mathematics (Syracuse University, 1966). His research focuses on special education, mathematics education for learners with disabilities, career opportunities for marginalized youth, and initiatives supporting homeless children's education.

Key research interests include developing inclusive educational programs, addressing systemic barriers for disabled students, and improving outcomes for culturally diverse populations. His publications emphasize pedagogical strategies for special needs learners and career development frameworks.

Dr. Fair has held academic leadership roles since 1994, including founding the Academic Bridge Program and directing the Fidelity Children’s Learning Fund. His grants include initiatives like the Sherman Partnership for Homeless Children’s Education and Americorps Literacy Projects. He has received recognition for diversity advocacy, including roles in UT Dallas’s Office of Diversity and Community Engagement.

Professional service includes leadership in Jumpstart Dallas, military service (U.S. Army, 1967–1969), and community engagement initiatives. His work bridges educational equity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and policy impact.
