George Dewhirst serves as a Visiting Lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Chester within the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences, a role he assumed in November 2023. Concurrently, he is pursuing his PhD in Mathematics at the same institution, having commenced doctoral research in February 2023. His academic foundation includes an MMath in Mathematics from the University of Warwick (2016), a 4-year integrated Masters program specializing in analysis, partial differential equations (PDEs), and statistics.
Dr. Dewhirst's research centers on numerical analysis of Fractional Stochastic PDEs, with focused investigations into fractional Allen Cahn and Cahn Hilliard equations. His scholarly contributions include co-authorship of 'Local existence of the outer parabolic stochastic Stefan problem on the sphere' and 'Galerkin finite element methods for stochastic semilinear subdiffusion driven by additive fractional Brownian motion' (awaiting publication). He actively bridges theoretical mathematics with practical applications, particularly through PDE implementations in data classification systems like the Merriman-Bence-Osher scheme for noisy semi-circle analysis.
With extensive pedagogical experience since 2015, he has taught first-year Mathematical Analysis at the University of Warwick, supervised core pure mathematics modules, and currently delivers probability, statistics, and foundational mathematics courses at Chester. His instructional repertoire extends to the employability and computation module and private A-level mathematics tutoring, demonstrating versatile educational commitment across academic levels.
